Imagine Performing Arts
In 2015, Music and Play introduced a new performance program - Imagine Performing Arts. Through the production of community-based musical and dramatic shows, Imagine PA supports the development of the next generation of theatre artists by offering opportunities for youth and adults alike.
The goals of Imagine are to inspire, nurture, challenge, amaze, educate and empower artists and audiences of all ages through the magic and power of professional theatre - and by doing so contribute to the cultural life of Calgary. Now this sounds pretty grand but we don’t believe in thinking small, neither does anyone who strives to be the best they can be in business, sports or the arts!
Led by Artistic Producer Darryl Lindenbach, our team comes from a strong background in professional theatre and education - a blend critical to achieve success with a diverse group of community performers. And just as our team is committed to them, our cast members demonstrate tireless support and dedication to these shows as they experience a level of respect for their talent and see a measured difference in their abilities, confidence, and growth that is not often available to performers at this level.
Our first show is cast, rehearsals are underway and we invite you to attend our inaugural production, DREAMS OF BROADWAY, a journey through 80 years of musical theatre - from April 15-17, 2016 at the Wright Theatre at Mount Royal University.
