Pillsbury House and Mount Curve's trilogy started in 2011 with the production of In the Red and Brown Water and continued in 2012 with The Brothers Size. Marcus completes Tarell Alvin McCraney's Brother/Sister Plays, a stunning series of works that follow several generations of life in a small Louisiana town. McCraney's writing is full of poetic asides (all of the stage directions are spoken, and are intended to add layers to the character) and an honesty that is both bracing and refreshing. The third piece centers on Marcus, a teenage boy who is "sweet" — gay — and discovering where he fits in the community. That includes working out who his late father really was in terms of everyone around him. As with the first two parts, Tony-nominated director Marion McClinton is in charge of the show. The cast features Nathan Barlow in the title role, along with Jamila Anderson, Aimee K. Bryant, Lauren Davis, Joy Dolo, Darius Dotch, Thomasina Petris, Mikell Sapp, James A. Williams, and Ahanti Young. The show is in preview Friday, September 12, and opens Saturday. (Photo by Travis Anderson)
