Summer Stock for Students 2024!
Students will receive vocational style training in acting, dance, singing, stage design, and producing taught by SGVMT's theatre professionals, while rehearsing and performing in a fully staged musical! This year's musical will be Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical JR. Book by Dennis Kelly, Music & Lyrics by Tim Minchin. Directed by SGVMT's Artistic Director Bobby Hundley, Music Direction by Broadway Locker Director Julie Welch, and Choreography by Anita Fischer. Recommended for youth ages 8-18.
Rebellion is nigh in Matilda JR., a gleefully witty ode to the the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the "revolting children" who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson. Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence... and special powers! She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace! Packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs, Matilda JR. is a joyous girl power romp. Children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.

About the SGVMT and it's Broadway Locker Program
Operated by its volunteer board of directors, SGVMT is committed to the preservation, promotion, and presentation of the unique American art form of musical theatre with the motto: “Building Our Community One Musical at a Time”. We provide Musical Theatre for the community in an environment reinforcing cultural enrichment, equity, and inclusion while providing performing opportunities for national, regional, and local talent, and delivering educational enrichment programs.
“The Broadway Locker” program, serves community members aged 5 - 18 yrs, through various theatre programs aimed to introduce youth to the art of Music Theatre, better prepare individuals for a career in music theatre, & provide the general community exposure to theatre through the end of program public performance.

PARENTSTUDENT Consent to have student participate in The Broadway Locker Summer Musical Theatre Program and agree to hold the San Gabriel Valley Music Theatre, Inc., its agents, contractors, oremployees harmless from any act of ordinary negligence, arising from any accident, injury, or damage whatsoever, however caused, to any person or persons, or the property of any person or persons, or corporations occurring during all times the student is participating in the program up to and including the time when the student is released into the responsible party’s care. San Gabriel Valley Music Theatre, Inc. reserves the right to withdraw any student from the program without refund due to misbehavior. Lastly, San Gabriel Valley Music Theatre, Inc. reserves the right to use photographs, video audio of the student taken during program hours for use in marketing and promotion of San Gabriel Valley Music Theatre. You understand that these may be used in print publications, online publications, presentations, websites, and social media. You also understand that no royalty, fee or other compensation shall become payable to you or your student by reason of such use.
By enrolling your child / student in this program, you acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that your child(ren) and you may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by attending SGVMT and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death. You understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at SGVMT and on the grounds of the facilities used by SGVMT may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of myself and others, including, but not limited to SGVMT’s Board of Directors, volunteers, vendors, sponsors, partners, and program participants and their families. You voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any injury to your child(ren) or yourself (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that you or your child(ren) may experience or incur in connection with my child(ren)’s attendance or participation in SGVMT programs.
