Flight 416 West left New York City on April 16, 1952, and crashed into the hills
above Hacienda Heights California on April 18, 1952, killing all 29 passengers.
Locally, this crash has become more of an urban myth than a true story.

Two Whittier Men and Their Wild Ride
At the turn of the 19th century, Two oil men from Whittier were chased
down Turnbull Canyon by what may as well have been a monster!
The Electrodome
In the 1930's, a man named William Haight took an abandoned oil derrick
at the summit of Turnbull Canyon in the Hacienda Heights / Whittier area
and built a laboratory at the top of it. This laboratory housed a device
that had the ability to manipulate the weather... Mr. Haight called it, "The Electrodome."
Gay’s Lion Farm
A long time ago, over 250 lions were kept in the City of El Monte
where the 10 freeway meets the intersection of Peck and Valley Blvd.
Several motion pictures were shot there and over 2 million people came to visit this one of a kind place.
Today, the roar of the lions have been replaced by the roar of engines…
