Join fellow audience members in kicking off this year's series with our traditional opening night dinner reception! This year the dinner features authentic Cuban cuisine from the eastern end of the island to accompany the New England premiere of the Cuban film Agosto, where the film is set.
Catered by El Oriental de Cuba in Jamaica Plain, the menu includes:
Appetizers
- Chicken, beef & cheese empanadas
- Cuban sandwiches
Main Course
- Ropa Vieja--the iconic Cuban dish featuring shredded beef, tomatoes, peppers, and onions
- Chicken fricassee
- Three different kinds of rice with beans
- Sweet and green plantain crisps
- Salad
Dessert
- Tres leches cake, a super moist confection soaked in three different kinds of milk—sweetened condensed, evaporated, and whole—and topped with whipped cream.
El Oriental de Cuba was Boston’s first Cuban restaurant, opening originally in 1994 to serve the area’s Latino community. Time Out calls it “your best bet for delicious Cuban in Boston ,” and “no longer an under-the-radar gem.” It is still one of only a handful of Cuban restaurants in the Greater Boston area.
